Website rules

This page tells what users and website may and may not do. For game rules (e.g. how to move pieces) see game rules.

Terms

Any visitor of the website, regardless of account status, is considered a user and should follow the rules. Here "you" means a user.

By continuing to use the website, you agree to follow the rules.

Admins are users assigned this position by website owner(s). Limitations of these rules put upon users do not apply to admins.

Website (or we) is, well, this website (cheatchess.ru), and also its owner(s).

Play fair

Users are not allowed to cheat (create unfair advantage), except for what is allowed in the game rules.

Users are not allowed to use game engines (computer analysis) or AI to find moves, until the game is over.

The game relies on player's memory. Users are not allowed to view recording of the match, until the game is over. This includes (but is not limited to) the following:

Recording game on video. You are allowed to record, but not to re-watch, until the game is over.
Streaming. You are allowed to stream, but not to re-watch, until the game is over. Viewers may not hint you about opponent's illegal moves. If they do, you are not allowed to use that hint, even if it was obvious.
Recording game on paper on in document software.
Asking someone to record or remember the match.
Staring into the screen intensively until an afterimage appears. Not only is this cheating, this might (or might not, we are not a doctor) be unhealthy.
Using debug and dev tools to see request history.

You are not allowed to take other persons' advice about chess strategy, until the game is over.

If both players agree upon, they are allowed to cheat in game with each other, if this does not affect any prizes. Even if users agree, cheating is still not allowed in rated games and tournaments.

You are not allowed to manipulate rating.

Play nice

Do not spam, e.g. with draw offers or game invites.

Do not abort games too often.

Do not end the game after a couple of moves too often.

Do not stall the games.

Do not hack/break the website or its users.

Username rules

Usernames:

May not be offensive
May not impersonate other users, other people's unique usernames (similar generic names are allowed, because there are too many user in the Internet to check all names), admins, bloggers who post about this game, famous people, @qwentys‑minecraft and Queen of Great Britain.
May not break laws (more about that in laws section)

Abiding the law

Users should abide the law:

Laws of The Russian Federation
International laws
Rules and laws of any country, region or organisation which you are a part of

For cases not stated by the rules, users, admins and website should be guided by common Internet principles and mentioned laws.

Cookies and data

We did not use cookie files, but Cloudflare does, and that's regulated by their cookie policy. We also use Local storage, which is basically the same. We use it to store authentication data and user preferences (i.e. to personalize content), so it's required for website to operate.

If you do not want the website to store authentication data on your device, you will need to clear it and close the website.

The games are tied to your account. You give consent to publish and analyze your games and your username (which are public). Since the website does not provide anonymous games (for better user experience), this consent is required to use the website.

We might also identify your device. You might reject it in cookie popup. If you do, we will only use public and/or anonymous data. This includes analyzing traffic to our website (either personally, or anonymously).

Since website does not require to share personal info, user acknowledges that data provided by them is not personal info.

User-generated data (e.g. game history) is the property of the website.

Extra conditions

Rules (both website rules and game rules) may change at any time. By continuing to use the website, you agree to follow the new rules.

Website layout and functionality may change at any time.

Admins may block any user and/or remove/hide data with or without providing a reason to users.

If any rule (or part of rule) is declared ~~pathetic~~ negligible by court or other government organ, all other rules (parts of the rules) still remain valid if possible.

User is responsible for any actions of their account, and website is not responsible for users' actions.

The website software is provided "as is", without warranties. The website is not liable for any damage.
